The Western Renewables Link is a proposed new 190 kilometre overhead high-voltage electricity transmission line that will carry renewable energy from Bulgana in western Victoria to Sydenham in Melbourne’s north-west. This critical infrastructure will unlock the renewable energy potential of western Victoria as a key Renewable Energy Zone and help deliver clean and affordable energy to all Victorians. The Opportunity Please note that the role is based in Port Melbourne until May 2027 and then required full time on site in the camp (which is classed as premium). That will evoke the 10% site uplift on base pay. Sites are based in Western Victoria between Ararat and Sydenham. This position is responsible for planning, mitigating, preventing and implementing preparedness on biosecurity management for all properties and neighbouring properties during delivery of the Western Renewables Link Project located in western Victoria. The position requires implementation of Agriculture Victoria's framework on managing biodiversity in Victoria and is key to protecting agricultural areas from weeds, pests and pathogens. Reporting to the Environment and Sustainability Manager, this position will work closely with the project teams of design, construction, land access and environment, directly managing, coordinating and communicating biosecurity requirements during all phases of the Project. The role will require engagement with project stakeholders including Client representatives. The role will be focused on implementing agreed contractual requirements, maintain compliance with statutory and legal requirements, developing individual property access plans of the Project regarding biosecurity and assessing and tracking compliance. Job Tasks and Responsibilities Ensure the Project’s compliance with management systems, processes and plans, corporate, statutory, and legislative requirements. Ensure consultants, visitors and subcontractors comply with the company safety systems. Ensure compliance and provide recommendations for improvements to HSE and Quality systems and processes. Develop, embed and communicate approved processes and methods to ensure the minimum statutory requirements for Biosecurity are met to support delivery of the Project. Outline the process for identifying pests, animal/plant diseases and weeds on individual properties and develop the processes and methods to ensure biosecurity compliance is achieved during Project delivery. Develop methods for decontamination of plant and vehicles when relocating from properties and worksites to another; or from one area on a property/worksite with known biosecurity hazards to another without the same hazards. Coordinate inputs from construction and design teams and facilitate biosecurity management, including logistics conditions, and timeframes. Implement measures to avoid the spread of weeds and measures to manage imported materials to the worksite. Maintain appropriate records and update relevant documentation including trackers, environmental procedures and compliance documents etc. Work with delivery teams on site to implement all biosecurity controls. Ensure compliance with project approvals and procedures. Manage and coordinate activities for specialists that provide biosecurity advice (ecologists, zoologists), as required. Maintain biosecurity registers. Successfully track biosecurity management records and compliance requirements during design and delivery phases of the project. Essential Skills / Qualifications Tertiary qualification in Ecology, Zoology, Entomology, Environmental Science or equivalent qualification. Minimum 7 years of practical experience in the application of biosecurity requirements in agriculture, horticulture, forestry, mining, construction, oil or gas.
