The team is led by an experienced and highly regarded Head of Class Actions, and assisted by a dedicated team of Practice Leaders, Special Counsels, Senior Associates and other legal professionals. And as a permanent, full-time Investigations Manager in our class actions team based in our Sydney CBD office, that starts with you. The class actions practice undertakes an extensive investigation process for potential class actions, including assessing merits, case theory, quantum and recoverability for any potential claim. With audacious growth plans, this is a newly-created position where you will drive the velocity of these class actions investigations. Reporting to the Head of Class Actions, you will progress investigations quickly in the interests of justice for our group members, through appropriate commercial management and to meet these growth objectives. With a strong work ethic, you’ll take initiative, prioritise effectively, and help ensure we meet performance targets and deliver in full and on time by: Conducting initial assessments of a range of prospective class action matters to determine legal and commercial viability. Identifying when specialist expertise is required, and appropriately redirecting matters to senior team members. Ensuring assessment recommendations are evidence-based, timely and aligned with the Class Actions strategy and risk appetite. Assisting with evaluating the commercial prospects of the claim, including cost-benefit considerations and likely investigative requirements. Working with the Head of Class Actions to manage investigations budgets and financial thresholds at both individual and cumulative levels. Monitoring any additional expenditure i.e. disbursements ensuring costs remain within agreed budgets. Assisting to coordinate work across multiple team members involved in investigations at different stages. Working with the Head of Class Actions to implement structured workflows, and reporting to support efficient and consistent investigation practices. Effectively utilising AI (artificial intelligence) to improve efficiency through automation and streamlining tasks What you’ll bring Significant experience as a solicitor practising across complex commercial litigation and/or class actions. Current unrestricted practising certificate. Strong legal analytical skills, research skills, and attention to detail. Ability to work with and manage large volumes of complex documents and reports. Ability to control the fiscal-element of matters, including reporting to litigation funders.
