Senior Manager – Financial Crime Risk & Compliance About the Role We are seeking an experienced Financial Crime Risk & Compliance leader to shape and strengthen a client's financial crime framework. This is a high-impact role with both strategic oversight and operational responsibility, offering the opportunity to design, enhance and embed best-practice processes within a legal environment. The successful candidate will be instrumental in evolving our financial crime program, setting governance structures, refining policies and controls, and ensuring the firm remains aligned with regulatory obligations across AML, CTF, CPF and sanctions regimes. This position is ideal for someone who can define the direction at a strategic level while also being comfortable delivering outcomes hands-on. Key Responsibilities Lead the ongoing development and optimisation of the firm’s financial crime compliance framework Establish and maintain governance structures, policies and control environments Oversee anti-money laundering, counter-terrorism financing, counter-proliferation financing and sanctions compliance programs Act as the primary point of contact for audits, regulatory reviews and reporting requirements Provide clear, practical interpretation of regulatory obligations and translate them into actionable internal guidance Lead, mentor and develop a team responsible for client due diligence (CDD), ongoing monitoring and risk assessments Oversee BAU operations including work allocation, quality assurance and escalation of complex matters Deliver reporting and key risk metrics to senior leadership and the Board Identify and investigate financial crime risks, escalating where appropriate Support the continuous improvement of onboarding and business intake risk management processes About You You are a confident financial crime professional with strong expertise in AML/CTF and broader financial crime risk management. You combine strategic thinking with operational delivery and are comfortable influencing stakeholders at senior levels. You will bring: Significant experience in financial crime risk and compliance within legal, banking or professional services environments Strong working knowledge of AML/CTF legislation, sanctions and related regulatory frameworks Experience building or enhancing compliance frameworks, policies and systems Demonstrated leadership experience, ideally managing teams responsible for client due diligence or compliance operations The ability to interpret complex regulations and convert them into practical, business-friendly guidance Confidence in engaging with regulators and managing audit processes Strong analytical and investigative skills, with the ability to identify red flags and assess risk exposure Exceptional written and verbal communication skills High levels of integrity and attention to detail when handling sensitive legal and financial information
