Description Drive the future of infrastructure optimisation. As the Innovation Lead, you will lead a structured, data‑driven improvement program that lifts reliability, efficiency and lifecycle performance across one of Sydney’s most complex tunnel and motorway networks. This role blends engineering expertise, structured governance and hands‑on operational insight to deliver meaningful, measurable change. Working as part of the Northern Assets Leadership Team, you will embed a Future Works‑style innovation framework, progressing ideas from feasibility through to implementation and benefit realisation; all while ensuring safety, availability and compliance remain uncompromised. Key responsibilities Guide improvement ideas from early concept, to testing, to full rollout; ensuring each step is backed by solid analysis and clear decision‑making. Use reliability and maintenance insights to spot where tunnel systems and maintenance practices can run smarter, last longer or perform more efficiently. Build strong, evidence‑based cases for change using engineering data, cost modelling and risk assessment to show why an idea is worth investing in. Make sure every improvement is introduced safely and correctly, following structured engineering reviews, safety checks and formal approvals before changes go live. What you’ll bring A degree in Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Asset Management or similar field 10 years’ experience in asset‑intensive, maintenance or operational environments Experience applying reliability‑centred maintenance, RAM analysis or lifecycle modelling in live operational settings Ability to lead structured improvement programs using formal governance gates and approval processes Strong stakeholder, communication and influencing skills with credibility across engineering, operations and leadership teams Downer is a company that believes people are our greatest asset.
