Description Lead the team that keeps one of Australia’s most critical road networks safe, reliable and operating at its best. Downer is seeking an experienced Civil Lead to oversee the delivery, performance and compliance of all civil and landscape asset maintenance across the Transurban Northern Assets network. In this leadership position, you’ll manage a multi‑disciplinary civil maintenance team responsible for pavement, drainage, barriers, structures and vegetation management. You will ensure all works are executed safely, efficiently and in line with contractual, safety and asset management requirements. You’ll also play a key role in delivering shutdown works within tight access windows and coordinating high‑risk activities in live traffic environments. Key responsibilities Provide visible safety leadership and drive a strong Zero Harm culture across all civil and vegetation activities Plan and deliver preventative and corrective civil maintenance Lead vegetation programs including mowing, pruning, clearing and sightline management Deliver shutdown civil works within approved closure windows Ensure accurate data capture in asset/work management systems (e.g., Maximo) Monitor asset condition, identify emerging risks and escalate when required Manage subcontractors and service partners in high‑risk environments Drive continuous improvement, innovation and workforce capability uplift What you’ll bring Experience in civil infrastructure maintenance on motorways, tunnels or major road networks Proven leadership experience in live traffic and high‑risk operational environments Strong knowledge across pavement, drainage, structures, barriers and vegetation management Skilled in planning, resource coordination and shutdown delivery Competent in asset management systems Collaborative, organised and highly safety‑focused Trade or tertiary qualification in Civil Construction/Engineering (or equivalent experience) White Card required; MR Licence desirable Downer is a company that believes people are our greatest asset.
