Internal expression of interest Senior Spatial Analyst (Environment Officer Class 8) Temporary full-time (35 hours per week) until 17 July 2026 Office location is Parramatta - hybrid working supported Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $115,817 to $130,667 super Our Data Intelligence and Spatial (SDIS) team within the Regulatory Practice and Engagement Branch is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Spatial Analyst to provide specialist spatial data management and analysis leadership that supports conservation program objectives and outcomes for Biodiversity and Heritage Regulator (BHR) through the development of effective spatial data provisioning and system support. The role will primarily focus on the delivery of Spatial Services, including (but not limited to) aerial photograph interpretation to support investigative decision-making; quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) of spatial compliance outcomes for capture in the Compliance Spatial Information System (CSIS); and responding to Compliance Interest Interagency Tool(CIIT) queries. In line with SDIS’s continuous improvement focus, the role will also identify opportunities to enhance existing processes, including the enablement of system-based improvements. About You The role is expected to operate with a level of autonomy and to make day‑to‑day decisions relating to work priorities, allocation of resources, and workload management for themselves in conjunction with other Senior Spatial Analysts in SDIS. The role is accountable for the delivery of assigned work and is directed by the supervisor or manager on work priorities, complex issues, and all matters requiring higher‑level authority to determine and resolve issues. Key knowledge and experience Demonstrated experience applying spatial analysis and aerial imagery interpretation to support compliance, regulatory, or investigative functions within a government environment, ensuring advice is evidence‑based and fit for decision‑making Extensive experience in the delivery of spatial data management and analysis activities that effectively support information management programs. Knowledge of GIS systems, such as Arc MAP and ArcGIS, and associated spatial data. Prior experience contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, including identifying process inefficiencies, supporting system‑based enhancements, and working collaboratively with stakeholders to improve service delivery.
