Description Location: Parramatta (with up to one day per week in Sydney CBD) We are seeking a hands-on AI and Data Privacy Risk Lead to help shape how our organisation manages emerging technology risks across artificial intelligence, machine learning and data privacy. This is a practical second-line risk role where you will work closely with Technology, Cyber and Data teams to assess AI use cases, strengthen governance and ensure privacy obligations are embedded as new capabilities are developed. As AI adoption accelerates across financial services, this role offers the opportunity to play a key role in building our AI risk capability, working at the intersection of risk, technology and data innovation. This role suits someone who enjoys being close to the detail, influencing stakeholders and helping organisations safely adopt new technologies. Key Responsibilities AI & Emerging Technology Risk Perform AI and advanced analytics risk assessments across new and existing technology initiatives Provide second line challenge and oversight on AI model governance and lifecycle controls Partner with Technology and Data teams to ensure responsible and well-controlled AI deployment Assess risks relating to model bias, explainability, governance and monitoring Data Privacy & Regulatory Risk Provide oversight of the organisation’s data privacy risk framework aligned with Australian regulatory expectations Review and challenge Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and technology risk assessments Support management of privacy incidents, regulatory obligations and breach notifications Ensure privacy by design principles are embedded in technology and data initiatives Risk Framework & Governance Support the ongoing uplift of AI, technology and data risk governance frameworks Contribute to the development of risk policies, standards and guidance for AI and emerging technologies Monitor regulatory developments and emerging risks relating to AI and data usage Provide pragmatic risk advice to business and technology stakeholders Collaboration & Influence Partner closely with Technology, Cyber Security, Legal, Data and Product teams Provide clear, practical risk advice that enables innovation while maintaining strong governance Contribute to the organisation’s broader technology and data risk capability uplift About You You are an experienced technology or data risk professional who enjoys working in evolving technology environments and is interested in building deeper expertise in AI governance and emerging technology risk. Experience Approximately 8–12 years’ experience in Technology Risk, Information Security Risk, Data Privacy Risk or Model Risk Experience working within financial services or another regulated environment Strong understanding of Australian privacy obligations and privacy risk management Experience performing technology, data or model risk assessments Ability to work closely with technology and engineering teams to understand new platforms and solutions Experience contributing to risk frameworks, governance or control environments Knowledge Areas Exposure to some of the following areas will be beneficial: AI / Machine Learning governance or model risk management Data governance and data risk management Technology risk frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001 or similar APRA regulatory standards including CPS 234 or CPS 230 Privacy by design and Privacy Impact Assessments Personal Attributes Curious about AI and emerging technology risks Enjoys working hands-on with stakeholders and technology teams Comfortable operating in a dynamic and evolving regulatory landscape Strong communicator who can translate complex risk topics into practical advice Motivated to build capability in a rapidly evolving risk discipline What’s it like to work here?
