About the Opportunity We’re seeking an experienced Mechanical/Structural CAD Designer to produce high‑quality 2D and 3D design deliverables for structural jigs, fixtures, lifting equipment, and mechanical support assemblies. You’ll transform engineering inputs into accurate, manufacturable design packages that support safe production and maintenance activities. Working closely with engineers and other design disciplines, you’ll help deliver integrated, fabrication‑ready solutions across a wide range of mechanical structural applications. Responsibilities Develop detailed 2D drawings and 3D models for structural jigs, fixtures, lifting frames, platforms, supports, and load‑bearing assemblies. Convert engineering sketches, calculations, and FEA results into manufacturable structural design documentation. Apply drafting standards (AS1100), welding symbols, tolerances, and material specifications appropriate to mechanical structural fabrication. Produce assembly drawings and models showing interfaces, bolt patterns, welds, and installation sequences. Ensure structural designs incorporate correct stiffening, connections, and fabrication‑feasible details. Integrate platform data, equipment geometry, steel profiles, and material specs into complete jigs and fixture design packages. Conduct hardware inspections and use reverse‑engineering techniques to document as‑built configurations. Update drawings and models in response to engineering changes, feedback from fabrication, and configuration control requirements. About you Diploma‑qualified paraprofessional (3‑year mechanical or structural engineering technical discipline). At least 5 years’ experience in detailed design, drafting, or CAD modelling. Strong capability in producing precise 2D/3D CAD outputs for mechanical structural applications. Skilled in applying drafting standards, welding annotations, tolerancing, and fabrication‑focused detailing. Experience developing jig and fixture designs, lifting structures, or mechanical support assemblies. Able to interpret engineering data, calculations, and FEA inputs to create accurate documentation. Strong attention to detail with a commitment to configuration control and high‑quality documentation. Comfortable collaborating across engineering, design, rigging, and production teams. Eligibility This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
