Maurice Blackburn, experience you can count on. About the role: Our Medical Negligence team are leaders in the field. They have successfully represented hundreds of patients and their families from across the country in complex and sensitive medical negligence matters, securing favourable outcomes in all aspects of medical care, including surgical injuries, medication errors, obstetrics, misdiagnosis and delayed diagnosis, paediatrics, and suicide. Our National Medical Negligence team of experienced legal professionals are committed to achieving just outcomes for our clients, advocating for improvements to patient safety and often speaking at both legal and medical conferences on legal issues specifically but also more broadly on healthcare and patient safety issues. As part of your role, you’ll face ongoing challenges that require leveraging your technical expertise and experience in medical negligence. Your commitment to achieving equitable outcomes for our clients will be put to the test. We are looking for a lawyer in our Melbourne team, with a strong client service focus, a personable approach where relationships matter to you, and a strong commitment to social justice. You will ideally have 2-3 years PAE however if you have a strong desire to forge a career within Medical Negligence we want to hear from you. This is a permanent, full time role. We are looking for someone who: Works effectively with others and foster positive relationships; Strong client and relationship building skills, you cultivate and manage relationships with referrers and other external stakeholders; Contributes to team success and collaborates seamlessly; Resourceful, you find creative solutions and adapt to challenges; Determined and motivated to make a difference, driving successful outcomes; Client focussed with a genuine passion for helping people; Prior experience working within a Personal injury, Medical Negligence or Litigation environment. Your role will involve: Review and analysis of records; Drafting written communications to clients; Briefing medical experts, and allied health professionals; Drafting court documents; Attending court for procedural hearings; Deeply understanding clients needs, You love what you do, and this is evidence in the success of your work.
