About the role: The Associate Developer role contributes to the development and maintenance of large-scale enterprise-grade digital solutions with a strong focus on building high-quality, reliable products. The position supports major digital brands including 7News.com.au, PerthNow, The West, The Game, Community News, and 18 regional publications. Working within a high-performing engineering team, the role supports platforms serving approximately 1.45 million unique users per day. The environment involves frequent production deployments leveraging modern serverless infrastructure and contemporary engineering practices. You will: Develop and maintain application code supported by a mature CI/CD platform with branch deployments. Write infrastructure-as-code alongside application code. Work within a strong Agile culture using SCRUM. Build and operate services using AWS technologies including Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS/SNS, and ECS, deployed via Pulumi. Work with TypeScript across Node.js and React.js projects. Collaborate using GitHub and GitHub Actions for CI. Deploy to production via automated merge-to-master workflows. About You A solid understanding of programming fundamentals. Relevant training or professional experience in software development or a related field. Experience with or a willingness to build capability in, JavaScript, TypeScript, React.js, and Node.js. Motivation to contribute to both public-facing and internal news products. An independent goal-oriented work style with a strong sense of ownership. Strong interpersonal skills and a positive collaborative mindset.
