Job Description Create your best future and join Westpac as the Head of Digital Assets What’s the role? You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping Westpac’s future in digital payments and transaction banking. As Head of Digital Assets within our Institutional Bank, you’ll set the strategic direction for how digital assets, tokenisation and emerging payment models are applied across the organisation, and lead that strategy through to delivery. Based in Sydney or Melbourne, this full-time executive role sits within Global Transaction Services and gives you enterprise-wide accountability for identifying opportunities, prioritising initiatives and building a credible, compliant digital asset capability. You’ll translate strategy into clear platform roadmaps, lead a portfolio of initiatives from concept through to scaled delivery, and ensure strong governance, investment discipline and executive decision-making throughout. You’ll work closely with technology, risk, legal, compliance and financial crime teams to ensure innovation is balanced with regulatory credibility. You’ll also engage senior leaders across the Group and represent Westpac externally with industry partners, market infrastructure providers and regulators. This is a role for a leader who’s comfortable operating in complexity, influencing at the highest levels and turning emerging ideas into real customer and business outcomes. What do I need? You’ll bring senior leadership capability, strategic judgement and a practical approach to delivering change in regulated environments. Extensive experience in financial services, particularly within institutional banking, transaction banking, payments and platform strategy and delivery. Deep expertise in payments and institutional transaction services, with strong insight into payment modernisation and digital asset models, including tokenisation. Strong understanding of distributed ledger (blockchain) technologies and their application within regulated financial services environments. Awareness of regulatory, legal, operational and financial crime risks associated with payments and digital asset initiatives. Proven capability in setting strategy and leading complex transformation and delivery portfolios in highly regulated environments, partnering closely with technology teams. Demonstrated experience working within enterprise governance and investment prioritisation frameworks, including collaboration with external vendors, market infrastructure participants and industry bodies.
