As a Data Engineer at Australian Retirement Trust (ART), you will play a key role in developing and managing data workflows, pipelines, ETL processes, and data reporting across ART’s data environments. You will work closely with technical and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, reliable, and innovative business intelligence and data solutions that support effective decision-making. This role is part of the Business Intelligence Team within the Data & Integration business unit, reporting to the Delivery Manager – Business Intelligence. Key Responsibilities: Develop, migrate, and maintain scalable data packages and pipelines, primarily on Microsoft Azure. Validate and assess external data sets from multiple sources to maximise the value of ART’s information assets. Design and implement data management structures to support consistent information retrieval, analysis, and interpretation. Apply up-to-date knowledge of data concepts, object and data modelling techniques, and design principles. Support and adhere to BI design standards, ensuring consistency and compliance across development, testing, and support. Apply data management processes, including classification, security, retrieval, and retention. Suggest and implement continuous improvements and innovation initiatives within the BI team. Identify, assess, and escalate risks in line with ART’s internal Risk Management framework. This role is a permanent opportunity. Location: Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne. About you It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too: Proven experience designing, developing, and supporting BI products such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, MS SQL Server, SSAS, SSIS, SSRS, Power BI, Visual Studio, Python or R. Experience working with diverse data sets and formats, including CSV, XML, and JSON. Strong understanding of Business Intelligence, Business Process Management, and analytics. Experience using or administering PowerBI.com. Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Business, IT, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. High-level interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, with the ability to consult and liaise on complex technical issues. Experience working in big data environments and with big data file formats (e.g., Parquet, Avro) is highly regarded. Knowledge of the full SDLC, Agile methodologies, and experience in CI/CD environments using Azure DevOps is desirable.
