As an Assistant Manager, you will play a key role in leading audit engagements, supporting high-quality audit delivery, and contributing to the continued development of the Brisbane Audit & Assurance practice. The role involves significant responsibility across project management, client interaction, and team leadership, working closely with Senior Managers and Partners to manage risk, quality and delivery outcomes. You will work with a diverse client portfolio, including listed and private groups, public sector and not‑for‑profit organisations, across industries such as government, education, manufacturing and distribution, resources and energy, technology platforms (including blockchain and digital assets), and the health sector. This role suits an experienced Assistant Manager who enjoys being closely involved in client delivery, coaching and supervising team members, and contributing to broader practice initiatives as the Brisbane team continues to grow. Key Responsibilities: Lead the identification, assessment and resolution of complex technical accounting and auditing matters, exercising sound professional judgement and escalating where appropriate. Reviews of financial statements and related disclosures to ensure compliance with Accounting Standards and relevant regulatory requirements. Assist in the preparation of client-facing audit outputs, including reports, presentations, and professional communications to management and those charged with governance. Manage multiple audit engagements concurrently, coordinating engagement teams, timelines and resources to ensure delivery of quality outcomes within agreed timeframes. Mentor, train and support audit team members, fostering capability development while ensuring compliance with RSM methodology, quality standards and firm policies. Develop business development capability in preparation for progression to Manager, including supporting client relationship management, contributing to proposals, and identifying opportunities to expand or deepen client engagements in collaboration with Partners, Directors and Managers. About you: You are a detail-oriented audit professional with strong leadership skills, capable of managing both projects and people. Your analytical mindset and effective communication enable you to build lasting client relationships while delivering high-quality audit outcomes. Experience and Attributes: 4-5 years of external audit experience, including team management. CA qualified (or equivalent). In-depth working knowledge of the Corporations Act, Australian Accounting Standards, Australian Auditing Standards, and relevant regulatory requirements. Exceptional communication and people skills. Demonstrated experience leading or supporting audit engagements, including managing workflows, timelines and team performance. Strong problem-solving and decision-making capability, with the confidence to exercise professional judgement and escalate matters appropriately. Ability to work autonomously while also collaborating effectively as part of a broader engagement and leadership team. High attention to detail and commitment to audit quality and consistency. Client‑focused, with a genuine desire to add value through the delivery of responsive, high‑quality service through effective communication.
