You will be responsible for the care and support of high school students in a boarding facility in North West Queensland. This is a 24hr, seven day facility with staff rostered on a variety of shifts throughout the week and the weekend. It is a rewarding career path and one to consider if you enjoy working with young people Who We Are Spinifex State College - Mount Isa opened in 2003 after community consultation determined that the two previous state high schools - Mount Isa State High School and Kalkadoon State High School - should merge. Spinifex State College - Mount Isa is a three campus educational facility. Commencing 2015 junior campus will cater to years 7-9, senior campus years 10-12 and the residential campus. Step Into Your Next Chapter You will be working in a team of people who are responsible for the safe and secure environment away from home for secondary students in a boarding setting. Responsibilities Include You will monitor and liaise with students, parents and school on a regular basis to support and mentor students as they progress through school, ensuring their health and pastoral care needs are met. Actively participate in team discussions to develop and implement initiatives designed to encourage a positive, caring and supportive residential environment for students. Actively contribute to the development and management of a safe and secure environment for secondary students residing at the campus by rigorously applying all systems and procedures. Assist students in the development of their social and personal skills by helping students understand their responsibilities and to develop positive relations with others. Please veiw the role description for a full list of responsibilities. The Perfect Fit The ideal applicant should have experience in working with adolescents in a boarding school campus. Current First Aid training or a willingness to obtain a First Aid certificate, the possession of a Working with Children Blue Card and a car licence are mandatory. The successful applicant will have to undergo a Criminal History Check before employment commences. A willingness to obtain a LHR bus licence is compulsory. This is a 24hr, seven day facility with staff rostered on a variety of shifts throughout the week and the weekend during school terms. This includes active/awake night shifts for each staff member.
