This is a fantastic opportunity to join the next phase of the Building Commission within NSW. https://www.nsw.gov.au/housing-and-construction/building-commissioner We are seeking an Administration Support Officer to join our Certifier Registration Team, primarily to carry out highly detailed, process‑driven administrative tasks that support the daily operation of the certifier registration service. This position centres on data entry, document checking, and managing compliance across a large and constantly changing volume of registration‑related records. The role requires strict adherence to legislative requirements and departmental procedures, with very limited flexibility or variation in daily tasks. Your day-to-day Carry out detailed administrative processing for certifier registrations, including form checking, document validation and maintaining compliance with the Building and Development Certifiers Act 2018 and the Building and Development Certifiers Regulation 2020. Manage a continuous stream of customer enquiries, frequently needing to clarify legislative requirements, regulatory processes and application steps for applicants who may be confused or frustrated by the obligations set out in the Act and Regulation. Rapidly learn and keep up with frequent updates to legislation and regulatory frameworks, ensuring you can reference specific clauses and direct customers to the exact sections themselves. Strictly follow established procedures for every task, with limited scope to deviate from workflows or adjust processes, even when dealing with outdated systems or repetitive tasks. Ensure all records, documents and communications meet auditing and statutory standards. Monitor shared inboxes, process applications, and chase missing information in accordance with tightly controlled timelines and quality checkpoints. Handle a high volume of transactional work requiring sustained focus, accuracy and the ability to manage competing demands without compromising compliance. To be successful in this role you will demonstrate: A good understanding of the Building and Development Certifiers Act 2018 and the Building and Development Certifiers Regulation 2020, along with the resilience to manage challenging customer enquiries about these obligations, is highly ideal for this role. The ability to learn complex legislation quickly, interpret procedural rules, and confidently direct customers to the correct statutory references. The capacity to work independently on highly repetitive administrative tasks, while also supporting team members during high‑volume periods. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for explaining application requirements, requesting missing details, and handling customers who may be confused by or resistant to regulatory requirements. High attention to details and accuracy when managing large volumes of compliance‑based, documentation‑heavy tasks. Strong organisational and time‑management skills to meet ongoing processing deadlines, recheck work when required, and keep up with legislative updates that impact registration requirements. Experience using systems such as Loris and Objective is highly desirable.
