The key duties of the position include The Role As the EL 1 Assistant Director Governance, you will play a pivotal role in enabling the delivery of the Over the Horizon Radar Network, one of Australia's most strategically important Defence capabilities. Working within the High Frequency Sensing Systems Program Office (HFSSPO), you will lead the Governance function and provide guidance on risk, security, quality, WHS&E and enterprise governance across a complex and high tempo program environment. Reporting to the Director, Program Support Office, you will lead a team of seven that partners closely with technical and program leaders to embed secure, safe and assured ways of working from concept and design through to delivery and sustainment. Your work will help ensure the capability is delivered not only effectively but also confidently, securely and in line with legislative and Defence requirements. You will oversee governance and security frameworks, support risk identification and acceptance processes, and ensure protective, personnel, information and cyber security requirements are integrated up front. This role is central to strengthening HFSSPO's overall security posture and creating a mature, consistent governance environment. Key Responsibilities Ensure HFSSPO delivers capability safely, securely and in accordance with legislation, policy and Defence standards. Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of governance frameworks and activities. Provide strategic guidance to strengthen governance and holistic security functions across the program. Partner with stakeholders across Defence and industry to align secure ways of working throughout the capability lifecycle. Promote a positive security culture and support risk informed decision making. Build team capability through proactive leadership and targeted development initiatives.
