About the Job There is an exciting opportunity with the Development Services Team for a Planning Officer. In this role, you will process and assess various types of planning applications with a high focus on providing quality customer service whilst meeting statutory timeframes and implementing the relevant Acts and policies. The position responds to customer enquiries, undertakes planning related inspections and helps to prepare reports and maintain accurate records in relation to planning matters. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Researching, compiling, and providing planning advice or support to internal and external customers. Process, assess and report on planning applications. Make decisions on planning applications in accordance with delegated authority. Maintain electronic and physical records within the Shire’s application registers for planning related matters. This is a full time position working 38 hours per week. About you In order to succeed and thrive in this position, you must have: Tertiary qualifications in urban and regional planning or equivalent allowing eligibility for membership of PIA. Previous Local Government experience or experience in a similar technical position involving the interpretation of statutory requirements in relation to planning related matters. Developed knowledge and application of statutory planning processes and functions. Benefits Salary range : $95,000 - $103,956 per annum, dependent on qualifications and experience. Permanent staff are entitled to: 5 weeks annual leave per year The option of one Rostered Day Off (RDO) every 4 weeks in exchange for working 40 hours per week.
