In this role, you will work closely with innovative businesses to identify, assess, and document eligible R&D activities under the Australian R&D Tax Incentive program. You will collaborate with highly skilled colleagues and a diverse client base across science, engineering, technology, and commercial sectors — helping organisations turn ideas into reality while developing your own technical, financial, and advisory capabilities. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys understanding how things work, analysing complex information, and producing high‑quality written documentation. Your Responsibilities Work closely with clients to understand the innovative products, processes and technologies they are developing. Participate in client interviews and workshops to identify eligible R&D activities and gather relevant technical and financial information. Review and analyse client documentation to assess compliance with R&D Tax Incentive legislation and guidelines. Assist in the analysis and calculation of R&D expenditure using financial statements and supporting records. Draft clear, accurate R&D project descriptions and written advice for inclusion in formal R&D applications. Prepare proposals, engagement letters, technical articles, and advisory documents relating to R&D tax and government grants. Communicate regularly with clients and internal team members to support project progress, client satisfaction, and on‑time delivery. Participate in internal learning and development initiatives and stay informed of legislative updates. Represent the Firm professionally at internal and external events and identify potential business development opportunities. What We Are Looking For Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Accounting, Engineering, Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A combination of Commerce and STEM studies is highly regarded. 1–2 years’ experience working with the R&D Tax Incentive in a professional services environment is desirable. Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability, with the ability to interpret technical and financial information. Ability to analyse financial statements including Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reports. Excellent written communication skills, including clear and accurate report writing. High attention to detail, organisational capability, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong research skills and curiosity about innovation and how businesses develop new products or processes. Professional communication skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
