With approvals in place out to 2046, the mine targets high quality coal with the majority being metallurgical coal. About The Role Maxwell Underground Mine are currently seeking an enthusiastic Environmental Coordinator to join our Team. Reporting to the Environment, Community and Approvals Manager, this unique role will primarily be responsible for managing on site mine rehabilitation, biodiversity and conservation offset areas, all land management activities and managing offsite properties. The role would appeal to anyone who is interested in ecology and or biodiversity and someone who enjoys spending time in the field. Additional Responsibilities May Include, But Are Not Limited To Coordinating rehabilitation activities such as: Landform design Topsoil management Seeding and tree planting Erosion control Ecosystem development Assisting site to achieve rehabilitation targets and goals. Assisting site with preparing rehabilitation management plans and strategies. Coordinating GIS data for rehabilitation and land management activities. Managing environmental contractors to undertake land management activities including weeds management, feral animal management, tree planting and bushfire mitigation. Engaging with the Aboriginal community including coordinating site work and developing cultural awareness activities for the site. Regularly meeting with leasees regarding rural properties and offsite property maintenance. Providing technical advice and guidance on environmental related matters to support operations in the delivery of a safety, productive and cost effective mine. Providing input into the overall environmental strategy for the site. Liaising with local land holders, community members and Government officials. Providing relevant environmental training for operational personnel. Helping develop a safety cultural that supports the company’s values. As our preferred candidate you will be someone with a can-do attitude, and hands-on approach, who demonstrates initiative and a willingness to contribute to a collaborative team environment. About You To be successful, you will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: Tertiary qualifications in Applied Science, Environmental Science or related discipline. A minimum 3 years’ experience within the Mining Industry. A thorough understanding of NSW environmental legislation. Experience in mine rehabilitation, biodiversity offsets and land management activities. Proficient in project and contractor management.
