Wildlife Monitoring Volunteer Role Vets for Compassion Love wildlife, nature, and the open road? Vets for Compassion is growing, and we’re building a dedicated Wildlife Monitoring Team to ensure rescued animals are safely transitioning back into the wild after release. No medical experience needed — just a car, a sense of adventure, and a passion for helping animals. What You'll Do: Visit release sites across North, East, and South/Peninsula areas (e.g. Whittlesea, Healesville, Lilydale, Belgrave, Frankston, Mornington, or surrounding bushland. Volunteers can choose regions based on proximity and availability) Observe animals post-release and log sightings or absence of sightings Record data using a smartphone, tablet, or laptop Upload basic notes and photos to our monitoring system Conduct weekly check-ins for one month post-release (required under wildlife release regulations) What You Need: A car and valid driver’s licence Access to a smartphone, iPad, or laptop for data entry Basic walking fitness and a love of being outdoors Commitment to checking each assigned release site once per week for 4 weeks Binoculars (optional but helpful!)
