The Opportunity Are you passionate about protecting South Australia’s environment while supporting infrastructure that shapes our State’s future? As the Senior Contamination Advisor, you will provide expert advice on contamination, soil and groundwater protection, and pollution management across key transport and infrastructure projects. Your guidance will ensure compliance with the Environment Protection Act 1993 and EPA requirements, supporting sustainable project outcomes. Working across planning, construction, operations, and maintenance, you will influence environmental decisions and strengthen the Department’s capability, corporate knowledge, and reputation in environmental stewardship. About you You are an energetic and capable environmental professional with practical experience delivering or procuring site contamination investigations and approvals. You work confidently with external suppliers and contractors, ensuring outcomes are delivered to a high standard. You communicate clearly and professionally while engaging effectively with stakeholders at all levels, bringing solid knowledge of relevant State and Federal legislation and the ability to interpret and apply requirements in project settings. you manage competing priorities with sound judgement, make timely and informed decisions, identify risks, and deliver practical, evidence based advice. Educational Qualifications / Licences A Degree or Post Graduate Qualification in Environmental Management, Planning or Science or related discipline is essential. Special Conditions A National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to employment in the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years. Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.
