Your role: As part of the Asset Maintenance Team, our Fitter/Machinist play a vital part in the maintenance and repair of vessels within Transdev Sydney Ferries. You will also be working closely with our Maintenance Supervisors to undertake all tasks of ship repair, carrying out this work safely and competently. As such, you are also required to attend to call-in duties for breakdown maintenance, and work overtime as required. As part of your growth, you will have the opportunity to impart your knowledge and provide training and support to other team members (i.e., apprentices and trade assistants, etc.) as well as assist with other general maintenance duties around the Shipyard as required by Maintenance Supervisors. Your responsibilities: · Demonstrates initiative and commitment to achieving performance targets by performing your duties in a safe and efficient manner · Build strong relationships and encourages continuous feedback within your team environment · Take pride in delivering high quality service on our vessel fleet · Work within time constraints and meet deadlines The talent you bring: · Recognised qualifications in fitter machinist eg. Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitting/Machining) or equivalent · Extensive marine and/or industrial experience. · Experience in fault finding, repair, servicing diesel engines, large machinery or boats · Dismantling & rebuilds of pumps. motors, valves, and related components. · Maintaining ship propulsion systems, auxiliary equipment, and outside machinery like steering mechanisms and hoisting devices. · Competently operate lathes, milling machine and radial drills. · Experience in hydraulics with a focus on complex steering systems. · Strengths in problem solving with the ability to trouble shoot in a heavy risk environment. · Ability to work in a Shipyard environment including rudder, shaft & propeller works. · Prepared to undertake approved training where required. · Ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision on nominated tasks.
