About the role This is a casual role with a fixed salary, up to 6 months. Working as part of a team in a 24/7 shift work environment, the Incident Response Officer monitors security for over 1500 schools across Victoria. You will be responsible for making a real impact to continuity of learning and safety by monitoring alarms, responding to incidents, raising work orders and other response services to minimise the loss or damage of school equipment and infrastructure. The role will be required to work shift work and be available outside of business hours to support the department and whole of government emergency management operations.Key Duties Interpret alarm activations and exercise judgement in dispatching security service providers and/or police Actively contribute to a positive team environment and culture Coach, mentor and train more junior incident response officers Oversee more complex security related issues Liaise with security service providers and school leaders regarding alarm activations and other security and safety incidents. Liaise and provide support with alarm system technicians working on sites Liaise with other emergency services in relation to emergencies at schools Preparing and disseminating Incident Reports Have additional responsibility in portfolios within the Unit, as assigned by team leaders/managers Requirements 24/7 shift work on a rotating roster Why Work with the Department of Education? About the Division The Security and Emergency Management Division's purpose is to lead security and emergency management functions for the Department and lead and support educational communities to be physically and psychologically safe through the provision of expert advice and support services. About the Unit The Security Unit operates the department's 24/7 Incident Support and Operations Centre responding to alarm and CCTV activations in schools and actioning work orders for the installation and maintenance of the alarm system.
