Full time, continuing position located at our Camden campus Opportunity to provide hands-on teaching and research support for the Animal Science units Base Salary $90,155 - $95,259 (HEO 4) 17% superannuation About the opportunity The Technical Assistant, Farms (Cattle and Sheep Unit) supports the teaching and research of the Animal Science units at the Camden Campus for SoLES, Sydney Veterinary School and the Sydney Institute of Agriculture. Your key responsibilities will be to: provide technical support and assistance to researchers, students and other technical staff working in the Animal Science unit assist undergraduate and postgraduate practical classes across multiple disciplines and livestock/animal species maintain the Animal Science unit ensuring that the teaching, learning and research requirements of the work area are suitably met maintain the animals within the unit in accordance with animal welfare code of practice and animal ethics committee directives maintain work areas in a clean and safe condition, hazardous chemicals are stored and disposed of appropriately and ensuring that the work area is compliant with workplace health and safety requirements. About you Diploma or Advanced Diploma (Vocational Education) - Animal Handling and Welfare and/or relevant industry experience working with livestock and knowledge of, or willingness to learn, biosecurity Specialised Induction Vehicle Certification (ATVs), verification of competency in operating a tractor, NSW Driver’s licence, Chemcert certificate, Forklift High Risk Work licence adequate strength to lift, carry, push, and pull a variety of loads in different situations safely and ability to tolerate repetitive physical work tasks an understanding of manual handling and working at heights a sound working knowledge and awareness of safety regulations and operating procedures within the Animal Science environment good communication skills and an ability to work independently as well as part of a team willingness to undergo Tetanus and Q Fever vaccination and/or health screening recommended by the University as relevant to this position.
