SPORT AT ST MARGARET’S St Margaret’s is pioneering the adoption of esports in girls’ education, ensuring its students have the leading edge when it comes to pursuing pathways in the booming esports industry. Students train in a purpose-built, high-tech Digital Hub for online gaming. The Digital Hub boasts eight high-powered computers, which are used for gaming but also run VR and design software and an interactive whiteboard enabling students to broadcast and view multiple screens at one time. THE ROLE – ESPORTS COACH St Margaret's, through its esports program provides a platform for students to develop important 21st century skills such as critical and creative thinking, problem-solving and ICT Skills through their passion for age appropriate video games. Students compete in a number of national and international competitive gaming competitions throughout the year. The competitions also promote a sense of school pride, increases engagement, improves the mental well-being of students, and builds characteristics that are crucial for personal growth. The esports program is supervised by Teachers. Coaches lead two training sessions per week with two QGSSSA esport tournaments, national and international competitions such as Girls in Gaming, held throughout the school year. We are currently seeking the following: Esports Coaches - The role of esports coach is to deliver coaching sessions which encourage effective game strategy, digital wellbeing, cyber safety and positive gaming behaviours. ABOUT YOU You will be an experienced eSport gamer who has a proven ability to develop effective skills that allows students to participate in competitive online gaming in a safe, supported and structured way. Essential requirements: Willingness to support the School’s core values and Anglican ethos. Demonstrated knowledge of esports competitions including game strategy, digital wellbeing, cyber safety skills and positive gaming behaviours. Well-developed problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to apply sound reasoning, logical judgement and analytical skills. Relevant coaching experience. Experience playing esports, preferably Minecraft – Capture the Flag. A Diploma of Esports or equivalent will be highly regarded. Ability to apply well-developed communication skills to develop rapport and relationships with students, staff and parents. Willingness to work collaboratively and effectively with other members of the school community. A working with children blue card or exemption card.
