We deliver impact through a range of activities including funding research projects, delivering an annual events program, awarding PhD scholarships, and initiating research and education programs aligned with strategic focus areas of high value to the State. Our current focus areas address medium- to long‑term challenges facing Western Australia’s minerals industry and include exploration amplification, net-zero‑emission mining, green steel, alternative uses of tailings and waste, and precision and low‑impact mining. METS Innovation and MRIWA’s Education and Workforce Programs support delivery of this strategy. The Position We are seeking a motivated and talented project professional to join the MRIWA team and contribute to the development and delivery of our research funding functions. One role is available for immediate appointment, with a particular focus on the exploration amplification and net-zero-emissions mining areas. Similar roles supporting other focus areas may become available over the next year, and this recruitment process may be used to fill future permanent or fixed-term vacancies arising within 12 months of appointment. The successful candidate will join a small, highly integrated team responsible for developing and delivering research programs and initiatives across MRIWA’s focus areas. This includes managing existing research projects led by external partners and contributing to cross‑government initiatives. Principal Project Officers are expected to demonstrate strong initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise their workload while working flexibly across multiple focus areas. The role requires effective communication and engagement with colleagues across the organisation to support delivery of MRIWA’s strategic priorities.
