THE OPPORTUNITY The Senior Governance Officer supports the Board and Management of the Gumala Aboriginal Corporation in meeting their compliance obligations and ensures efficient administration across the Governance business unit. The aim of the role is to develop and lead high-quality governance across the business in order to achieve GAC’s mission, vision and strategic objectives. The role will be required to have an outstanding level of business awareness, contract management and governance principles. Day-to-day duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Maintaining and reviewing the policy framework, processes and systems within Gumala to ensure compliance with the corporate governance framework; Facilitating governance reporting; Facilitating and overseeing governance-related projects, including the convening of Annual General Meetings and Member consultation meetings; Maintain various registers, including action, contract and risk management; Coordinating and managing daily tasks of the Governance team, ensuring compliance with procedures and guidelines. This position is based in East Perth with occasional travel to the Pilbara, and is being offered on an initial 12-month term. ABOUT YOU Tertiary qualification in Business, Law or Governance or relevant qualification. Demonstrated team leadership with the ability to motivate and coach team members. Knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements. Understanding of the CATSI Act Experience in managing compliance issues in a small to medium-sized not-for-profit organisation.
