The Opportunity Location: Melbourne, Hybrid Contract: 4 months, with potential for extension We are seeking an experienced Automation Test Lead to strengthen quality and reliability practices across mobile applications and backend services. This role focuses on mobile app testing, software testing, end-to-end testing, automation, and ensuring reliable messaging, synchronisation, and authentication flows under real-world conditions. You will work closely with iOS engineers, backend teams, and delivery stakeholders to define testing strategies, improve coverage, and provide clear insight into release readiness. This opportunity suits someone who values structured quality practices, clear communication, and shared accountability for delivery outcomes. What You’ll Do Define and own an end-to-end test strategy across mobile, API, and integration layers, with clear entry and exit criteria Validate critical scenarios including offline and online transitions, conflict resolution, audit history integrity, and authentication and session management flows Execute functional, regression, and reliability testing for messaging and data synchronisation under varying network conditions Design, build, and maintain automated test coverage for high-priority and high-risk scenarios Integrate automated tests into CI pipelines, ensuring consistent execution, reporting, and visibility Manage the defect lifecycle by producing clear, reproducible defect reports and applying risk-based prioritisation Provide release readiness and sign-off recommendations based on test outcomes and risk assessment Collaborate with engineering teams to improve testability, reliability, and overall quality outcomes What You’ll Bring Strong experience testing iOS applications, including tools such as XCTest, XCUITest, or Appium Hands-on experience with API testing, including Postman and API or contract testing approaches Experience using network inspection tools such as Charles or Proxyman Familiarity with CI-based test execution and automated test integration A structured and analytical approach to testing complex systems involving mobile clients, APIs, and backend services Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain quality, risk, and release confidence to both technical and non-technical stakeholders Nice to Have Experience testing synchronisation-heavy or messaging-based systems Exposure to reliability, resilience, or fault-tolerance testing Experience working closely with engineering teams to embed quality practices earlier in the delivery lifecycle What Success Looks Like Confidence that critical mobile and API workflows behave reliably in real-world conditions Clear visibility of quality, risk, and release readiness throughout delivery cycles Automated test coverage that supports consistent, repeatable releases Strong collaboration between quality, engineering, and delivery teams Why Join Skillfield?
