The RoleGeoscience Australia acquires, processes, interprets and delivers critical geophysical data, including active and passive seismic and magnetotellurics. This data is instrumental in supporting the organisation's objective to provide high-quality geoscientific insights to the government, industry, and the community. Through these efforts, Geoscience Australia informs national decision-making and contributes to the sustainable growth of Australia's resource wealth. In this role, you will support the planning, acquisition, quality control, processing and archiving of nationally significant 2D onshore seismic surveys. These projects, conducted through geophysical survey contracts, are critical to achieving Geoscience Australia's objectives. You will play a key role in managing these contracts and ensuring the highest standards in seismic data acquisition and processing. Cooperation with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders is essential, and you will also have opportunities for business travel and f ieldwork. In this role, you will: Work as a member of the active seismic team to plan, design, and manage onshore seismic programs, including contract oversight and stakeholder engagement.Provide specialised technical advice to contractors and stakeholders, ensuring compliance with seismic data acquisition and processing standards.Undertake QA/QC for seismic data acquisition and processing activities to ensure data integrity and quality.Contribute to the development and maintenance of comprehensive documentation and work instructions for key operational activities.Support geological interpretation of seismic data by offering expert technical insights and recommendations.Promote Geoscience Australia's work to government, industry, academia and the community through publications and at conferences and workshops.Manage and archive seismic data using best practices to ensure its effective delivery to the geoscience community and public. Knowledge of industry-standard seismic data acquisition and processing software packages, along with familiarity in scripting to automate tasks, is highly desirable.Foundational knowledge of seismic interpretation and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is highly desirable.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences and manage stakeholder expectations effectively.Willingness and ability to undertake fieldwork in remote and potentially challenging environments across Australia.Commitment to continual learning and professional development, including advancements in geoscience, stakeholder management, inclusive culture, and data management practices, with a focus on emerging technologies and methodologies in the domain of seismic exploration.A relevant degree or educational background in geophysics, geology, or a related field is highly desirable.
