We are currently looking for a Senior Finance Business Analyst to join our high performing finance team, based in Sydney. Reporting to the Financial Planning and Analysis Manager you will provide high quality and proactive commercial advice and financial analysis including financial support and insights, value add solutions, financial and management reporting to partners, lawyers and business services staff to enable Norton Rose Fulbright to deliver seamless client service and ensure the smooth operation of our legal practice teams. Responsibilities: Develop a strong understanding of the business imperatives and key practice drivers that drive profitability of the firm. Financial reporting and analysis, including the preparation and review of monthly management reports and the communication of results to relevant stakeholders Prepare and provide financial insights into performance reporting for fee earners and legal teams (i.e. utilisation, realisation recovery, profitability and financial performance reviews) Prepare financial information and reports including profitability and expense reporting for legal and business support teams as well as commentary on expense variances for monthly financial reporting Business partnering with senior stakeholders across legal and business services groups in relation to key performance drivers, firm budgets, actuals vs variance analysis and forecasts to drive good financial hygiene practices. Contribute to driving good financial governance in the Firm, and providing a financial lens on general business activities such as recruitment, client secondments and expenditure. Collaboration with finance senior leadership, Legal teams and Business Services Directors and Managers to prepare timely and accurate budgets and forecasts that meet both local and global requirements. Maintenance of revenue, expense and KPI budgets in the relevant systems. Commitment to the development of a uniform and standard form of data presentation in response to requests, including assisting with the ongoing development of financial dashboards. About You: You will aspire to be a true business partner, demonstrating strong commercial acumen and integrity, and the ability to build trusting relationships with internal clients through exceptional stakeholder management skills. You will have a keen interest in telling the “story behind the numbers” as well as being a confident communicator who can tailor your communication style to stakeholders with and without a financial background. Candidates should demonstrate: Client service-orientated focus with the ability to professionally communicate with internal clients at all levels. Demonstrated commercial awareness, with the ability to understand how key business and practice drivers impact financial performance. Prior experience in a professional services environment not essential but will be very highly regarded. CA or CPA qualified Strong written and verbal communication skills including a proven ability to draft non-routine correspondence and documentation. Highly effective team player who is positive, communicative and proactive, and willing to work closely with other teams in Finance (Financial Accounting and Finance Systems) Highly organised with a proactive approach to problem solving. Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines and balance competing priorities. Excellent attention to detail and professional presentation. Strong user of Microsoft Excel and previous exposure to Power BI.
