What Your Day Could Look Like As a Ranger, you’ll be part of a supportive and close‑knit team while also enjoying the independence and flexibility to manage your day confidently out in the field. A typical day may see you: Engaging with residents, visitors, businesses and stakeholders in a professional and approachable way to achieve positive outcomes. Undertake proactive patrols and other initiatives across the Region and contribute to intelligence led regulatory campaigns. Carrying out parking enforcement to keep our public spaces safe and accessible while promoting equitable turnover. Managing abandoned vehicles and other items. Addressing overgrown land. Responding to issues involving companion animals and livestock. Responding to pollution incidents including littering and illegal dumping. Taking regulatory action when required—including issuing fines and progressing matters for prosecution. To Succeed In The Role You Will Have Class C Driver’s License. Minimum Certificate III in Government, regulatory compliance, animal management or demonstrated equivalent experience. Sound computer literacy skills. Ability to work independently and as an effective team member. Good verbal and written communication skills including taking detailed notes and preparing correspondence and reports. Effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills. Demonstrated ability to interpret policy and legislation relevant to the position. Ability and willingness to participate in a 7 day rotating roster and after hours on call, including weekends and public holidays. Remuneration Full-time permanent basis (38 hours per week); this role will involve working weekends and after hours. Salary (excluding super): Starting annual salary of $70,805 per annum with the opportunity for competency-based progression 12% Superannuation Other Benefits: On Call Allowance, Overtime, PPE and Uniform plus Tool of Trade Vehicle. About Councils Ranger & Animal Services Team Our Team consists of a Ranger & Animal Services Coordinator, Team Leader Animal Shelter, Animal Shelter Attendants, Senior Ranger and Rangers. Council’s Ranger & Animal Services Team is responsible for enforcing appropriate legislation with regard to the parking, companion animals, abandoned items and vehicles, built and natural environment and more. We achieve this through education and engagement activities, the undertaking of proactive patrols and campaigns as well as responding to and investigating customer complaints/alleged offences.
