As the Supervisor Cemeteries you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of Council cemeteries, delivering a high standard of services in line with agreed levels of service. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage all staff within the cemeteries team. Provide input into the development and management of the budget allocated to the cemeteries team. Actively participate in the review and implementation of operational processes. Ensure the timely, effective, and efficient delivery of allocated tasks and ensure all tasks are completed in accordance with Service Level Agreement (SLA) and/or standards of work. Provide an environment and culture that ensures workplace health and safety, industrial health and hygiene, psychological safety, and wellbeing, for all people within the workplace. Develop, implement, and monitor ongoing programmed maintenance schedules. Plan, schedule and deliver minor projects. Liaise with and assist funeral directors by scheduling the provision and preparation of burial sites to enable timely funeral services. Special Requirements Ability to participate in an On-call roster. Ability to undertake regular local travel. Ability to undertake physical work in a variety of outdoor environments. Position Capabilities You’re a confident, compassionate leader with experience in cemetery operations, horticulture or a related field. You can manage people, schedules and competing priorities—while maintaining empathy and professionalism when working with the community. Essential Qualifications Qualification in Horticulture, Cemetery and Crematorium Operations, or related field; OR Lesser formal qualifications with substantial years of experience General Construction Induction Training. Light Rigid (LR) Licence, or interstate equivalent. Note: interstate licences must be transferred to Qld within three (3) months of commencement. Desirable ACDC Weed Spraying Licence. Medium Rigid (MR) Licence. Qualification (Certificate IV and above) in Business Management, Leadership, or related field. Certificate III in Cemetery and Crematorium Operations; or Gravedigging, Ground and Maintenance; or related field. Why Join MRC?
