Environmental Scientist C&R Consulting Pty Ltd Townsville, QLD C&R Consulting Pty Ltd (C&R) are an established environmental consultancy built on providing innovative, sustainable solutions to complex environmental issues throughout northern Australia for the past twenty years. C&R are seeking a practically minded Environmental Scientist with approximately two to four years’ experience to join our Townsville-based team in a full-time, permanent role. Reporting to senior and principal scientists, this position offers hands-on field experience across a diverse range of environmental science disciplines, with strong mentoring and opportunities to further develop technical and professional skills. C&R undertake environmental monitoring and assessment programs across northern Australia, with a strong focus on water-related disciplines including surface water quality, groundwater quality and levels, aquatic ecology, and sediment quality. Much of our work is conducted in remote tropical environments and supports critical operations for our clients. As such, we place a strong emphasis on safety, planning and teamwork to ensure field programs are delivered efficiently and safely. The role You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support the planning and delivery of environmental monitoring programs, primarily in the field, with increasing involvement in data review and reporting as experience grows. Key responsibilities include: Working with scientists and senior scientists to execute environmental monitoring and field programs. Collection, collation and initial review of environmental data. Assisting with the preparation of scientific and regulatory reports. Undertaking practical observations of monitored environmental systems. Upholding scientific methods and regulatory requirements during sample collection. Promoting positive safety behaviours and contributing to a strong team culture. Maintenance and care of field equipment to support safe and efficient fieldwork. About you The successful applicant will be self-motivated, practically minded, and comfortable working in remote field environments. You will be eager to learn from experienced scientists and contribute meaningfully to a wide range of projects. You will ideally have: A tertiary qualification in environmental science, hydrogeology, geology or a related discipline. Approximately 2–4 years of relevant industry experience. Strong problem-solving, communication and time management skills. Experience using environmental monitoring equipment and data management systems. High computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook (GIS experience highly desirable). A basic understanding of environmental legislation and approvals processes (Queensland and/or federal preferred). A Queensland manual driver’s licence and experience driving long distances and/or off-road/4WD. Ability to meet the requirements of a Generic Coal Board Medical (CMSHR 1). Willingness to work away from home for short, planned periods (generally less than 10 days per trip). Australian citizenship or unrestricted rights to work in Australia. Why work for C&R?
