With a booming, culturally rich and diverse community, and less than an hourâs drive from the CBD (still within the bounds of Myki and ride-sharing), Melbourneâs North is fast becoming the place to be.   Speech Pathology Student Education Lead â Grade 3 Speech Pathology Department | Northern Health  Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Grade 3 Speech Pathologist to join the Northern Health team.  Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourneâs rapidly growing outer north.  Services are provided through our six main campuses: Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.  About the Role: This exciting clinical education role supports the delivery of high-quality undergraduate Speech Pathology placements across Northern Health in partnership with La Trobe University.  Working under the guidance of the Grade 4 Speech Pathology Student Clinical Education Lead, this position focuses on the day-to-day coordination, support and supervision of students undertaking face-to-face placements. You will play a key role in shaping positive student learning experiences while strengthening supervision capability across the service.  The role requires sound knowledge of Speech Pathology service delivery and the ability to facilitate meaningful student engagement within busy clinical environments. You will provide practical support to students and supervisors throughout placements, including orientation, tutorials, structured check-ins and assistance with assessment processes aligned with La Trobe University requirements and the Compass assessment tool.  This role is responsible for delivering direct and indirect supervision support, mentoring new supervisors, contributing to professional development activities, participating in placement evaluation and quality improvement initiatives, and maintaining strong partnerships with La Trobe University clinical academic staff.  Join Northern Health and help shape the next generation of Speech Pathologists while continuing to grow your own leadership and supervision capability within a supportive and innovative health service.  This position is fixed term full time until December 2030 with monthly Accrued Day Off.  This role is responsible for: Supporting students on placement through orientation, tutorials and structured formal check-ins Providing indirect supervision support, including co-supervising assessments, assisting with learning plans and facilitating feedback and debriefing sessions Mentoring and supporting clinical staff who directly supervise students, including new supervisors Delivering professional development activities to build supervision capability Working in partnership with La Trobe University clinical academic staff, including participation in relevant meetings and committees Contributing to placement evaluation, advocacy and continuous quality improvement initiatives Maintaining and supporting placement capacity across services Directly supervising Speech Pathology students from La Trobe University Facilitating and supervising a minimum number of placement days each year Contributing to clinical service delivery during non-placement periods as required Provision of an evidence-based Speech Pathology Service  To be successful in this role you will have: Qualification in Speech Pathology and eligibility for membership with Speech Pathology Australia Experience and good working knowledge of clinical Speech Pathology practice across varied settings Proven ability to supervise or co-supervise students and support learning and performance development Demonstrated understanding of competency-based assessment processes and student placement requirements (including familiarity with Compass or similar tools) Well-developed communication, mentoring and stakeholder engagement skills Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous quality improvement Ability to work flexibly across multiple sites and adapt to service needs  Next Steps . . .
