SkyHigh is one of the Victoria's most popular attractions, situated on top of Mount Dandenong, with fantastic city and mountain views. A magnificent English style garden, beer garden, maze and function rooms; our work environment is envied by all around us. SkyHigh is seeking an experienced and passionate garden manager to join the team during an exciting period of growth. We are looking for a full time gardener to join our wonderful team of 3 managers, 5 supervisors and over 60 staff. At least 2 years previous experience as a head gardener is preferred, along with a strong background in working with garden machinery. SkyHigh is very busy and at times with around half a million visitors each year. The job is for 5 days a week (Monday to Friday), with the occasional few hours on a Saturday or Sunday if there is an emergency or watering is required. 38-40 hours a week. About The Role: Plan, instigate and monitor plant and tree care programs including design, landscaping, propagation, planting, irrigation, weeding, grass cutting, strimming, rubbish maintenance and general garden and facilities maintenance. Engage the General Manager and owners in the creation and delivery of a garden management plan. Management of Plant Collections, ongoing garden operations and horticulture features. Ongoing responsibilities include allocating work load/tasks to garden staff and developing routine schedules, conducting risk assessments, monitoring work standards and staff performance management. Regular interaction with locals, visitors and customer groups to enhance their experience of SkyHigh. Monitor expenditure and control costs to minimise negative financial impact. Manage all garden project activities to ensure they are carried out on schedule and within allocated budgets, employing the assistance of external labour / organisations where necessary. Supervise the training and development of garden staff (including an apprentice) to ensure they achieve their full potential and become an integral part of the company. Ensure that all garden administration activities are conducted in a professional manner including routine progress reporting, financial and plant records, purchasing of garden consumables. To carry out all other reasonable instructions emanating from the General Manager and owners. About You: You are not afraid to push for an improved look of the garden areas You are confident to co-ordinate garden maintenance in multiple areas including 2 nearby Airbnb properties An understanding of a high volume gardens would be beneficial.
