About the role As the Operations manager you will lead a specialised team in delivering high-quality fabrication and mechanical services while optimizing shop efficiency, safety, and throughput to meet demanding industrial project timelines. This is a senior leadership role based in Bibra Lake with a strong focus on business development and excellent execution across our various verticals. What you'll do: Lead and develop a dedicated team of pipe fitters, welders, supervisors, and support staff in a high-volume fabrication environment Oversee end-to-end fabrication and mechanical support functions of the workshop Optimize shop capacity, workflow, and resource planning to maximize throughput, shorten lead times, and support overall growth Support Strategic growth across Benang by supporting our Civil Utility pipeline teams, attracting new customers and delivering a superior product and service for the existing customers. Build and nurture relationships with existing and prospective clients (oil & gas, utility, defence, industrial) by executing on strategic business development. Collaborate internal and external stakeholders to align with companies’ strategic goals. Support all functions of the operation including but not limited to Engineering, Estimating, Business Development, Fabrication and Procurement Manage departmental budgets, material flow, equipment uptime, and subcontractor performance to ensure profitable execution and scalability What we're looking for: 10 years of progressive leadership in pipe spool & structural fabrication, piping, or related industrial fabrication / mechanical operations Hands-on experience running pipe fabrication teams of 20 (fitters, welders, QA/QC, supervisors) in shop and/or field environments Strong technical knowledge of processes: isometric interpretation, spool drawing review, material control, welding procedures (including high-alloy and exotic materials), fit-up tolerances, PWHT, hydrostatic testing, and packaging/shipping of spools etc Proven track record improving shop efficiency, reducing fabrication cycle times, controlling costs, and scaling output to meet growing demand Direct involvement in business development: contributing to bids, client presentations, capacity demonstrations etc Exceptional leadership — you motivate teams, build accountability, and foster a safety-first, quality-obsessed culture Strong communicator who can interface confidently with clients, engineers, estimators, and senior leadership Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Technology, Manufacturing, or equivalent extensive practical experience Why join us?
