CMC is seeking an exceptional Commercial Manager to play a critical leadership role in protecting, strengthening and optimising the commercial performance of complex civil infrastructure projects. This position sits at the centre of major project delivery, working closely with senior operational leaders to ensure commercial strategy, contract administration and risk management are executed at the highest level. About the opportunity Based at our Brisbane Head Office, you will provide high-level commercial leadership and advice across multiple projects and business functions. You will partner closely with senior operational leaders, project teams, pre-contracts and legal stakeholders to ensure the business makes strong commercial decisions across contract negotiation, risk management and project performance. This role also plays a key part in building commercial capability across the organisation, mentoring project teams and strengthening commercial systems and processes across the portfolio. Key Responsibilities Provide strategic commercial advice across complex civil infrastructure projects; Support senior leaders with contract negotiations, commercial strategy and risk management; Develop and implement project commercial roadmaps to guide delivery teams; Lead or support negotiations relating to head contracts, subcontract agreements, and variations; Identify emerging commercial risks early and develop practical mitigation strategies; Support project teams in managing progress claims, variations and contract administration processes; Monitor commercial performance across projects and provide financial and risk insight to project leaders; Strengthen commercial systems, governance and reporting across the business; Mentor project managers, contract administrators and commercial staff to build organisational capability. About you You are a highly capable commercial professional who understands the realities of major civil infrastructure delivery. You will likely come from a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor environment and have built a reputation for sound judgement, strong negotiation capability, and the ability to manage complex contractual issues on large projects. Your background will include: Significant experience in commercial leadership roles within civil infrastructure or construction; Deep knowledge of Australian construction contracts and security of payment legislation; Proven capability managing complex head contract and subcontract negotiations; Strong experience with variations and claims management; Exposure to alliances, ECIs or collaborative contracting models; The ability to influence senior stakeholders and support project teams in high-pressure environments; A tertiary qualification in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Law, Construction Management or Commerce.
