Roster: 8 days on, 6 days off, 7 nights on, 7 days off FIFO The AHS Pit Technician is a critical role in Fortescue’s transition to Autonomous Haulage System (AHS) operations at our Cloudbreak mine site. This position supports the implementation and optimization of autonomous equipment and systems, ensuring seamless integration with Fortescue’s own HaulX Fleet Management System and cutting-edge mining technology. Reporting to the Supervisor AHS Pit Technician, the role involves maintaining alignment between the virtual mine model and real-world conditions through precise surveys and updates. The AHS Pit Technician is also responsible for managing dynamic autonomous operating areas, ensuring they adapt to operational requirements safely and efficiently. Serving as the in-field liaison for mine control, the AHS Pit Technician collaborates closely with the control team to align operational goals, provide real-time updates, and facilitate effective communication between field operations and the control room. This role combines technical expertise, problem-solving, and teamwork to enable safe and productive autonomous operations, directly contributing to Fortescue’s innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence objectives. Key Responsibilities Virtual Mine Model Maintenance: Conduct surveys and regularly update the virtual mine model to ensure alignment with real-world conditionsDynamic Operating Area Management: Define, monitor, and adjust autonomous operating areas to support safe and efficient operations in response to changing site conditionsSystem Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues with autonomous systems in collaboration with technical and control room teamsField Liaison for Mine Control: Act as the primary in-field representative for mine control, ensuring alignment between field activities and control room operationsCollaboration with Teams: Work closely with operations and mine control teams to achieve aligned goals and support continuous improvementPerformance Monitoring: Observe and report on the performance of autonomous systems, identifying opportunities for optimization and improvementReal-Time Communication: Provide accurate and timely updates to mine control and other stakeholders regarding field conditions and system statusSupport for Operational Readiness: Contribute to the successful rollout and operational readiness of autonomous haulage systems by ensuring smooth field execution and collaboration. Qualifications And Experience T264 Haul Truck Operation: Hands-on experience operating T264 haul trucks, with a solid understanding of their systems and functionalityAutonomous Check Driver Experience: Previous experience as an autonomous check driver, ensuring the performance, safety, and functionality of autonomous haulage systemsField Coordination: Proven experience managing in-field activities, including setting up and adjusting dynamic operating areas in collaboration with mine control teamsCollaboration with Operational Teams: Strong history of working closely with mine control, operations, and technical teams to align field activities with operational objectivesProblem-Solving in Autonomous Systems: Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to autonomous haulage systems in a field environmentProblem-Solving: Ability to quickly identify issues and implement solutions in real-time to ensure minimal disruption to autonomous operationsCollaboration and Teamwork: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with mine control, operations, and technical teams, ensuring smooth coordination and alignmentField Operations Management: Ability to manage and coordinate in-field activities, ensuring the dynamic setup and maintenance of autonomous operating areasAttention to Detail: Strong attention to detail in monitoring system performance, conducting surveys, and updating virtual models to ensure operational accuracy and efficiency.
