Roster: Monday to Friday Fortescue is seeking a highly experienced Senior Environmental Advisor – Invertebrate Fauna to provide technical leadership across our Pilbara operations and growth projects. This is a senior role for an expert in subterranean fauna (stygofauna and troglofauna) and short-range endemic (SRE) invertebrates, supporting approvals, impact assessment and environmentally responsible project delivery. You will play a critical role in planning, overseeing and assuring the quality of baseline and monitoring programs, working closely with internal teams, regulators and external consultants to ensure compliance with Western Australian and Commonwealth environmental requirements. Key Responsibilities Lead the planning, oversight and quality assurance of subterranean fauna and SRE invertebrate baseline and monitoring programsInterpret technical survey outputs and assess potential impacts to significant invertebrate taxa and habitatsSupport environmental impact assessments and approvals across Pilbara hubs and associated infrastructureReview and provide technical assurance of consultant reportsContribute to the development of Environmental Management Plans and mitigation strategiesProvide advice to the business on regulatory frameworks and emerging legislative or regulatory changesBuild and maintain strong relationships with regulators, consultants, academia and industry peersMentor junior environmental professionals and support their developmentProvide support to inland waters, aquatic ecology and ecohydrology functions when required Qualifications And Experience 10 years’ experience in environmental roles across industry, consulting, government or academiaStrong expertise in invertebrate zoology, including survey design, monitoring and reportingSound knowledge of WA environmental legislation, approval processes and biological survey guidanceExperience in environmental impact assessment and regulatory engagementHigh attention to detail with a strong focus on complianceExcellent communication, negotiation and report-writing skillsDemonstrated project management capability and experience working with external consultantsExperience in statistical analysis, impact assessment and subterranean fauna habitat modellingTertiary qualification in zoology, ecology or a related disciplinePostgraduate qualifications are highly regarded About Us Be part of something big.
