Client and You: This is a hands-on role based around Garden Island, working on Defence and maritime projects across specialised mechanical systems — think frigates, submarines, large vessels, helicopters, and more. The work includes hydraulic and pneumatic testing on relief and stop valves up to 400 bar, hydro testing of hoses and valves up to 700 bar, pneumatic testing up to 600 bar, and other critical onboard equipment. You’ll work alongside senior technicians and gain exposure to highly specialised systems as you learn and grow. The Job: Overhaul, repair, and rebuild specialised mechanical systems. Maintain unique systems and equipment including hyperbaric, oxygen, mixed gas, LP and HP air, fuel and lube oil, fire detection and suppression, HVAC, elevators, and material handling equipment. Strip, inspect, test, and fault-find on HP/LP fluid and gas valves. Work on valves, pumps, gauges, actuators, and pressure systems. Carry out pressure testing and certification work. Support maintenance, urgent defects, and repair work on operational assets. Follow technical drawings, procedures, and quality documentation. Work closely with engineers, technicians, and site personnel. Qualifications & What’s in it for You: Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting, Hydraulics, HVAC, or similar. Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, valves, compressors, or pressure systems. Permanent full-time role. $45–$55/hr / circa $115,000 package, depending on experience. Bonus/profit share potential of $10,000–$30,000. Long-term stable work. Rare exposure to Defence, naval, and aviation-linked systems. Technical variety well beyond a normal fitter role. Training and development opportunities. Current driver’s licence. Able to obtain Security Clearance / pass a Police Check.
