The opportunity As a Mobility Equipment Hire Service (MEHS) volunteer, you will be the first point of contact for clients seeking mobility equipment. You’ll bring excellent communication skills and an understanding and empathy for people from diverse backgrounds, as well as a strong understanding or mechanical components. You will assist clients with their enquiries, and carry out maintenance, cleaning and servicing of equipment. Duties include: Assist customers to identify the most appropriate mobility aid in conjunction with their referral Hire mobility equipment to clients requiring short term equipment hire Provide customers with guidelines for the correct use of the mobility aid/s Communicate with clients on a one-to-one basis, respecting the clients’ right to confidentiality Positively contribute to workplace health and safety practices including an understanding of maintenance and carrying out cleaning requirements Ensure the effective management and resolution of client and volunteer issues, grievances and complaints Complete the associated paperwork and process payments Participate in orientation and training sessions Communicate openly with the service convenor and other volunteers regarding the running of the service and any related concerns The impact As a volunteer, you will ensure people have access to the equipment needed for their recovery, helping them to maintain their independence and alleviating some of the pressures they face while managing their health.
