Contracts and Commercial Lead CAWRA - Central Adelaide Waste and Recycling Authority This is a fulltime, 3 Year contract position. This position is employed by the City of Port Adelaide Enfield (PAE) and seconded to Central Adelaide Waste and Recycling Authority (CAWRA) supporting City of Charles Sturt (CCS) and City of Port Adelaide Enfield (PAE). We currently have an exciting opportunity for you to join the CAWRA team, based at Kilburn., Established in 2019, CAWRA is a regional subsidiary of the Cities of Charles Sturt and Port Adelaide Enfield. Created to service the local communities, CAWRA owns a Material Recovery Facility that receives and processes kerbside recyclable material and is operated by our highly experienced Principal Contractor partner, Visy Recycling. CAWRA is now looking to leverage its capability to opportunities beyond just MRF operations to drive best practice and waste & recycling efficiencies for the constituent councils. We are seeking a proactive and results oriented Contracts and Commercial Lead that will be responsible for optimising the performance and daily operations of CAWRA’s waste and resource management contracts, helping to drive commercial outcomes and deliver reliable and responsive services to both Councils and the community. Key Responsibilities Lead procurement and tendering processes and negotiations Manage, monitor, analyse and report on waste contracts, data, budgets and service performance, identifying issues and pursuing improvement opportunities throughout the life of a contract. Plan and improve integrated waste and resource management services in line with CAWRA and Council strategies and community needs. Review and manage waste operations and invoicing across both Councils, including research, reporting, contractor and consultant oversight and corrective actions. Build strong relationships with Councils, contractors and customer service teams, providing guidance and managing escalated waste‑related enquiries. About You You’ll bring: Commitment to improving waste and resource management, customer service, and environmental outcomes. Effective communication with high-level interpersonal and influencing skills that build positive working relationships. Tertiary qualification and/or relevant experience in contract management ideally with waste management, logistics, local government or relevant industry experience A proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
