The opportunity We have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Control Policy Lead to join our Statutory Reporting & Policy team within Corporate Services . Reporting to the Senior Manager, Statutory Reporting & Policy , this role is responsible for leading the development, interpretation and governance of accounting and finance policies across UniSuper and its controlled entities, including special purpose vehicles. You’ll act as a trusted technical advisor to senior leaders and executives, providing expert accounting advice, overseeing emerging regulatory change and supporting high‑quality statutory and regulatory reporting. This role also plays a key part in maintaining the integrity, accuracy and transparency of UniSuper’s financial information. Key aspects of the role include: Leading the coordination of the end‑of‑financial‑year external audit Providing technical oversight across complex accounting areas including investments, insurance, consolidations, revenue recognition, leases and defined benefit obligations Developing, maintaining and governing accounting policies, position papers and technical guidance Advising on complex transactions, new products, investments and fund restructures Monitoring and implementing changes in accounting standards and regulatory requirements Preparing finance and regulatory reporting papers for the Board and relevant committees Building strong relationships across Finance, Investments, Risk, Compliance and external stakeholders About you You are a technically strong accounting professional who enjoys operating in a complex, highly regulated environment and partnering with senior stakeholders. You’ll bring: CA or CPA qualification Extensive experience in financial governance, ideally from a Big 4 professional services background Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and relevant regulatory frameworks Proven ability to interpret complex accounting and regulatory requirements and translate them into practical guidance Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels Strong analytical, problem‑solving and Excel skills Experience in superannuation, investment accounting or financial services (preferred) Experience supporting or leading change initiatives and governance frameworks (desirable) What we offer We take a long‑term outlook and invest in our people through development, learning and flexibility.
