The Role We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Officer to join our team on an initial 6-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of extension. This role is based in beautiful Huonville, Tasmania. You will play a key role in a small, high-performing team, ensuring the seamless flow of our purchasing operations. Your core responsibility will be to accurately process approved purchase requisitions into formal purchase orders and manage supplier communications. The ideal candidate will be a natural problem-solver who takes pride in precision and thrives in a varied, fast-paced environment. Your Impact You’ll play an important part in keeping our purchasing operations running smoothly. Your day will involve: Entering and managing purchasing data with accuracy in our systems. Processing purchase requisitions into orders and communicating with suppliers in a timely manner. Ensuring all purchase requests have the appropriate financial approvals. Providing excellent service by liaising with internal teams and external suppliers on orders, quotes, and deliveries. Helping to resolve any delivery issues or invoice discrepancies efficiently. Assisting in the improvement of purchasing systems, policies, and procedures. Performing general ad-hoc duties to support the team’s objectives. You Are A professional with a strong understanding of purchasing principles and processes. Someone who enjoys variety, communicates with clarity, and takes pride in getting things right the first time. Proactive, highly motivated, and flexible, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Analytically minded, comfortable handling numbers and administrative tasks with ease, and skilled at solving purchasing-related problems. Tech-savvy, with confident, hands-on experience in Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Excel, and SharePoint. Prior experience with a dedicated Purchasing system is preferred. Possessed of excellent verbal and written English communication skills and strong data entry accuracy. Legally authorised to work in Australia.
