This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors, on the water, and takes pride in producing high‑quality, safe, long‑lasting welds in challenging environments. We have rosters available to suit either 7 days on, 7 days off or 4 days on, 3 days off. About the role As a Plastic Welder, you’ll be responsible for the fabrication, installation, repair and ongoing maintenance of HDPE sea pen infrastructure , helping ensure our marine farming systems are safe, reliable and built to last. You’ll also play an important role in supporting and mentoring junior team members , sharing best‑practice welding techniques and promoting strong safety and quality standards across our sites. What you’ll be doing Carrying out HDPE welding and repairs on sea pen components like collars, rails, walkways and brackets Installing and maintaining marine infrastructure to keep pens safe and in good working order Completing extrusion, butt and fusion welding in marine and outdoor conditions Working from drawings and plans to complete fabrication and repair work Checking sea pens and HDPE structures, noting any issues and helping arrange repairs Recording completed work, inspections and welds using simple digital reporting tools Spotting wear, damage or potential issues and flagging them early Supporting and mentoring junior team members and sharing best‑practice welding techniques Taking part in toolbox talks, pre‑start checks and following safe work practices on site Working safely over water and outdoors as part of a close‑knit marine team What we’re looking for Proven experience in HDPE plastic welding (extrusion, butt and fusion) Experience fabricating or repairing HDPE infrastructure in aquaculture, marine or outdoor environments Ability to consistently produce high‑quality welds in challenging conditions Confidence reading and interpreting drawings and technical plans Experience training, mentoring or providing on‑the‑job guidance to others Comfortable using digital tools for reporting and record‑keeping Strong attention to detail with a genuine commitment to safety and quality Why join Huon?
