The Purpose As a Senior Financial Accountant at AP, you will be responsible for the day-to-day finance functions to ensure the accurate recording and timely reporting of financial information for AP in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards and Company policies. This role also supports Treasury, Tax and compliance obligations, with a core focus on year-end and audit requirements Expected day-to-day activities: Audit & Financial Statements Provide supporting documentation and analysis for the year-end external audit. Assist in the preparation and review of statutory financial statements. Month End Prepare, review and post month-end journals as required. Support timely and accurate month-end close processes. Reconciliations Prepare and review high-quality balance sheet reconciliations. Ensure adherence to accounting standards and AP policies. Technical Accounting Apply accounting standards to operational matters. Prepare technical accounting memos and provide advice on areas such as leasing and commercial agreements. Tax Support the management of AP’s tax obligations as required. Financial Compliance Assist in ensuring AP meets its compliance obligations and compulsory government reporting requirements. Experience & Background: You are a technically strong and collaborative finance professional who thrives in a dynamic payments environment. You bring: An undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics or Accounting. CPA or CA qualification. Minimum 5 years’ directly relevant finance experience within a payment’s organisation. External audit experience. Experience in the preparation and review of financial statements. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues and work collaboratively to deliver solutions. A proactive mindset during change, encouraging flexibility and helping others see opportunities. A collaborative approach, working effectively across teams and with external stakeholders. A commitment to delivering high-quality outputs on time. A leadership style that fosters psychological safety, values diverse perspectives, and empowers others to take ownership and try new solutions.
