The Company: Our client is a leading provider of mechanical services and infrastructure solutions across Australia. They are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Engineer – Prefabrication to join their prefabrication team in Sydney. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of modular construction and prefabrication within a high-performing environment. The Role: Reporting to the Design Manager, you will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of prefabricated modular construction solutions. You will contribute technical and commercial support across multiple projects, assisting in everything from initial concept design development to final project delivery. Key Responsibilities: Design & Engineering: Assist in developing concept designs and coordinating with internal drafting teams to produce high-quality prefabrication and structural steel shop drawings. Assist in reviewing steel shop detailing to ensure adherence to design integrity and project requirements. Prepare preliminary design sketches, schedules and technical documentation for review. Tendering & Commercial: Support the estimating team by assisting with steel take-offs, reviewing tender documentation, and analysing supplier pricing. Procurement & Coordination: Work closely with internal stakeholders and vendors to monitor fabrication progress and ensure quality compliance. Quality & Documentation: Maintain prefabrication related quality procedures in line with ISO9001 Quality Management System and support documentation control for prefabrication and modular construction records. Project Interface: Provide technical assistance during construction and commissioning. About You To be successful in this role, you will have a strong technical foundation and a proactive, professional attitude. You are highly organised and capable of managing multiple concurrent tasks. Minimum Qualifications and Experience: Education: A Degree in Engineering (Structural, Mechanical, or a related discipline). Experience: A minimum of two years of experience in structural steel, mechanical services, or construction engineering. Software Skills: Exposure to BIM and steel detailing software (e.g., Tekla, Bluebeam or Inventor) is highly desirable. Licence: A current Australian Driver’s Licence is essential. Desirable: Prior exposure to structural steel detailing and/or prefabrication.
