Design reusable UX/UI components and process flows for critical government applications Ensure accessibility, scalability, and alignment with design standards Initial 6-month contract, in Brisbane CBD Job Title: UX/UI Designer Contract: Initial 6-month contract with possible extension Location: Brisbane CBD About the Role We are seeking an experienced UX/UI Designer to join a team delivering a critical application redevelopment project for a large Queensland government agency. This project focuses on redesigning applications, with a goal to improve usability, accessibility, and consistency across the agency’s digital services. As the UX/UI Designer, you will work alongside analysts and developers to create reusable design components, design UX process flows, and establish design standards that will form the benchmark for future projects. This is an excellent opportunity to make a tangible impact on public-facing government services and contribute to a client-centric approach. Key Responsibilities Develop a reusable, self-documenting library of standardised application components that incorporate branding requirements Design UX process flows for current application redevelopment projects and future applications Ensure all designs are aligned to system standards, accessibility guidelines (WCAG), and usability best practices Create graphics, icons, and other visual assets consistent with the design system Provide documentation, handover materials, and training to internal staff to ensure continuity Collaborate closely with analysts, developers, and stakeholders to refine and validate design solutions Skills & Experience The ideal candidate will have: Minimum 5 years of experience in UX/UI design, preferably in complex online applications Demonstrated experience in establishing standardised design systems and components Strong ability to design UX process flows for complex business processes Experience creating graphics, icons, and visual assets for applications Familiarity with Figma (highly regarded) and other design/prototyping tools Knowledge of WCAG accessibility guidelines and designing for inclusive user experiences Strong documentation and communication skills to guide and train internal teams Key Deliverables Review existing designs and styles, providing improvement feedback throughout the contract term Develop new or updated designs for missing or inconsistent components Create generic layout components for desktop, tablet, and mobile usage Design UX flows for complex business processes Deliver a complete UI component Design System Why You Should Apply Contribute to a high-profile government project with significant impact on public services Work with a collaborative team of analysts, developers, and stakeholders Influence the design standards across an entire government agency Gain exposure to complex, large-scale applications and develop solutions that set the benchmark for future projects Apply Today This is a rare opportunity to play a central role in shaping digital government services in Queensland.
