The Role Following a sustained period of significant growth and an internal promotion, HDR is seeking a commercially driven, strategically minded and people-focused leader to take accountability for our Building Engineering Services (BES) business across Australia. This is an exciting time to join the business, as we are entering a period of substantial growth and opportunity to shape the future of BES in the Australian market. Reporting to the Country Director of Operations, this is national leadership role with full ownership of the BES Australia P&L. As a key member of the Australian Leadership Team, you will contribute to the overall performance, direction and growth of HDR’s Australian business while building and strengthening a high-performing team across BES. We will count on you to: Champion the continued growth of the Australian Building Engineering Services Business Group, promoting its vision and values both internally and externally, and advancing its reputation as a leader in industry. Lead at a national level as a proactive member of the Australian Leadership Team. Drive collaboration across business groups to leverage multidisciplinary expertise. Develop and empower leaders, building a high-performing team aligned with HDR's values. Own and manage the BES Australia P&L, including budgeting, forecasting and delivery against financial targets. Monitor and adapt business strategies, ensuring alignment with market and client needs, and HDR's growth objectives. Identify and manage commercial and project risk. Foster an inclusive, high-performance culture algined with HDR's values. About You You are an experienced operational leader from within consulting engineering or a related professional services environment, with proven ability to combine strategic thinking with commercial results. You bring: 15 years' industry experience, including significant senior leadership responsibility. Demonstrated ownership of a P&L or significant business unit. Strong financial acument including budgeting, forecasting and performance management. A track record of improving operational outcomes and profitability. Experience leading leaders, not just managing teams. The confidence to make decisions and deliver results. Strong knowledge of the Australian building engineering sector. Experience reviewing and negotiating contracts (desirable). Multidisciplinary business experience will be highly regarded. This position is based in our Sydney office, with national responsibility across Australia. Your willingness to travel both domestically and internationally to connect with your team, clients and global colleagues will be essential.
