Eden Ritchie Recruitment are seeking an experienced Principal Finance Officer to lead financial reporting, budgeting and governance functions within a Queensland statutory authority. This role is responsible for delivering high quality financial and operational reporting, data analysis and corporate governance support. You will lead monthly and annual financial processes, provide strategic financial advice to senior stakeholders and drive continuous improvement across financial systems and controls. Rate: $88.29 per hour super Location: Albion, Brisbane Contract Length: 6 months possible 3 month extension Key Responsibilities: • Lead monthly and year-end accounting processes including general ledger reconciliations • Prepare annual financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards and Queensland Government Financial Reporting Requirements • Lead annual budget preparation, forecasting and ongoing budget maintenance • Deliver special purpose financial reports, budget submissions, briefing notes and complex financial analysis • Analyse financial and budget performance including variance analysis and cost driver insights • Provide strategic financial advice to management and stakeholders • Review and improve financial systems, internal controls and processes • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective financial service delivery • Maintain compliance with legislation, accounting standards and government policies About You: • Strong experience leading financial reporting and budgeting within the Queensland Public Sector • Demonstrated knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and government financial frameworks • Experience preparing annual financial statements and managing audit processes • Proven ability to analyse complex financial data and provide strategic advice • CPA or CA qualification (desirable) • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills This is a fantastic opportunity to lead high-level financial governance and reporting in a values-driven statutory authority while contributing to strategic decision-making and organisational improvement.
